Starting the keto diet can feel overwhelming at first. While it’s a popular approach for weight loss and boosting energy, beginners often fall into common traps that make it harder to succeed. By understanding these mistakes and how to avoid them, you can give yourself the best chance at staying consistent and seeing results.

1. Not Eating Enough Fat

The keto diet relies on fat as your primary energy source. Many newcomers are hesitant to increase their fat intake because of old misconceptions about dietary fat being unhealthy.

How to avoid it: Focus on incorporating healthy fats like avocados, olive oil, nuts, seeds, and fatty fish into your meals. Remember, fat is your friend on keto.

2. Eating Too Much Protein

A common misunderstanding is that keto is a high-protein diet. Eating too much protein can kick you out of ketosis because excess protein can be converted into glucose by the body.

How to avoid it: Keep your protein intake moderate. Choose cuts like chicken thighs, salmon, and eggs, and avoid loading your plate with lean meats alone.

3. Forgetting About Hidden Carbs

Carbs can sneak into your diet through sauces, dressings, and even certain “low-carb” snacks. Going over your carb limit can slow or stop ketosis.

How to avoid it: Read labels carefully and learn which foods are truly keto-friendly. Using a tracking app can help you stay within your daily carb allowance.

4. Not Drinking Enough Water

Keto naturally has a diuretic effect, which means your body flushes out water and electrolytes more quickly than usual. This can lead to dehydration, headaches, and fatigue.

How to avoid it: Increase your water intake and replenish electrolytes with foods rich in sodium, magnesium, and potassium.

5. Giving Up Too Soon

The first week of keto is often the hardest as your body transitions from burning carbs to burning fat for energy. This adjustment period, sometimes called the “keto flu,” can come with fatigue, cravings, and brain fog.

How to avoid it: Stay hydrated, eat enough fat, and be patient. These symptoms are temporary and will pass as your body adapts.

6. Avoiding Vegetables

Some beginners mistakenly cut out vegetables, thinking all carbs are bad. Non-starchy vegetables are essential for fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

How to avoid it: Include plenty of leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, and zucchini in your meals. These vegetables are low in carbs and nutrient-dense.

7. Overdoing Keto Snacks and Desserts

With so many keto-friendly bars, cookies, and shakes on the market, it’s easy to rely too heavily on processed options. While convenient, they can lead to cravings and stall weight loss.

How to avoid it: Use keto snacks sparingly and focus on whole foods. When shopping for products, consider options from reputable brands like Be Keto UK, which offers a range of keto-friendly foods and supplements designed for people following a ketogenic lifestyle.

8. Not Planning Meals Ahead

Without a plan, it’s tempting to grab high-carb foods when hunger strikes.

How to avoid it: Plan your meals and snacks for the week. Stock your kitchen with keto staples like eggs, cheese, nuts, and healthy fats to stay prepared.

9. Ignoring Your Body’s Signals

Keto is not one-size-fits-all. Some people may feel great on strict keto, while others need to adjust their macros for better energy levels.

How to avoid it: Listen to your body and make adjustments as needed. If you’re feeling constantly fatigued or hungry, it may be worth consulting a nutritionist to find the right balance.

10. Neglecting Electrolytes

Low sodium and potassium levels are common on keto and can lead to muscle cramps and dizziness.

How to avoid it: Add a pinch of salt to your meals, drink bone broth, and include potassium-rich foods like avocado and spinach.

Final Thoughts

Starting keto doesn’t have to be complicated. Avoid these common mistakes, focus on whole foods, and give your body time to adjust. With consistency and a little preparation, you’ll soon start to see the benefits of a ketogenic lifestyle.

How to Choose the Right Ice Cream Mix for Your Parlour? https://manthatlooksgood.com/how-to-choose-the-right-ice-cream-mix-for-your-parlour/ https://manthatlooksgood.com/how-to-choose-the-right-ice-cream-mix-for-your-parlour/#respond Fri, 16 May 2025 13:49:06 +0000 https://manthatlooksgood.com/?p=8016 Not All soft serve ice cream mixes are The Same! Ice Cream Powder – Could It Be the Key to Your Parlour’s Success? Absolutely! Choosing the right ice cream powder is one of the most crucial decisions when running an ice cream parlour. The taste, texture, and quality of your soft serve or twist ice cream largely depend on the ingredients in the mix you use. Are all powders the same? Definitely not. There’s a wide range of products available on the market, varying in composition, quality, and flavour.

If you want your ice cream to stand out with exceptional taste, there are several key factors to consider. The powder used for soft serve and twist ice cream should be of the highest quality – the final dessert depends on it.

Natural Ingredients – The Foundation of Premium Soft Serve

Customers are increasingly seeking creamy ice cream with simple, natural ingredients. When choosing your soft serve or twist ice cream powder mix, look for:
Whole milk, which gives your ice cream a rich, velvety flavour.
Natural colourants and additions like real cocoa or fruit juices to enhance both taste and appearance.
No palm oil or glucose-fructose syrup, which can compromise quality

With the benefits of natural ingredients, you can serve ice cream that delights your customers – and keeps them coming back for more.

Proper Freezing – Essential for Twist Ice Cream

One of the most important elements of quality ice cream is its texture. The perfect soft serve should be:
Silky and creamy, achieved through high-quality ingredients.
Light and airy, thanks to the right level of aeration.
Firm, holding its shape for longer.

A high-quality soft serve ice cream powder ensures that your machine-made ice cream rivals artisanal versions – with less effort and greater efficiency.

Proper Freezing – Essential for Twist Ice Cream

Twist ice cream requires a slightly different mix compared to soft serve, mainly due to the presence (or absence) of aeration.

Twist ice cream typically features:

✔ A tall, spiral shape

✔ Deep freezing

✔ Non-aerated texture

If you plan to serve twist ice cream, remember that your machine must be capable of operating at much lower temperatures than standard soft serve machines.

Ice Cream Powder Efficiency – More Servings, More Profit

The efficiency of the powder mix is another key consideration. When choosing ice cream powder, check:
? How many servings can you make from one kilogram of the mix?
? Does the mix hold air well and maintain shape?
? Is the product both efficient and high-quality?

Marketing & More – Choose a Producer That Supports You

A good ice cream powder manufacturer isn’t just a supplier – they’re a business partner. Look for a brand that offers:

? Professional marketing materials – posters, social media graphics, and print-ready product images.

? Expert support – ready-to-use recipes, trend inspiration, and a knowledge base packed with practical tips to help you expand your offering.
? Machine advice – choosing the right equipment is especially important for those new to the industry.

Ordering & Delivery – Hassle-Free Collaboration

When selecting an ice cream powder supplier, also consider the ordering process and delivery speed. Some manufacturers offer rapid delivery – a crucial advantage during the busy summer season, when demand for soft serve ice cream powder mix spikes.

Working with a reputable supplier, such as LYKKE Ice Cream, gives you access to products all year round – so there’s no need to stockpile and waste valuable storage space. Reliable suppliers also offer swift, global shipping with support in handling documentation and logistics – giving you peace of mind with every aspect of your order.

Summary – How to Choose the Best Ice Cream Powder?

Not all ice cream powders are the same – they vary in composition, taste, and quality. If you want to serve premium-quality ice cream, look for:
Natural ingredients – free from artificial fillers.
Creamy texture and outstanding flavour – essential for customer satisfaction.
Mix efficiency – more portions, better margins.
Marketing support – promotional materials, expert advice, and training.
Convenient ordering and availability – fast delivery and reliable service.

Choosing a high-quality soft serve or twist ice cream powder is an investment that directly impacts the taste, texture, and appeal of your ice cream – and ultimately, your customer’s experience. Go for natural ingredients, trusted suppliers, and outstanding quality – that’s the recipe for a thriving ice cream business!

There’s something so special about the combination of sweet, juicy watermelon with creamy feta and fresh herbs that brings everyone together. Perfect for hot summer days, this refreshing Watermelon Feta Salad is not just easy to throw together, but it also adds a burst of flavor to any meal. Trust me, once you try it, you’ll want to make it again and again!

What is Watermelon Feta Salad?

This Watermelon Feta Salad is the perfect dish for hot summer days! It combines sweet, juicy watermelon with the salty creaminess of feta cheese, cool cucumber, and fresh mint, creating a delightful balance of flavors. What makes this salad stand out is the added crunch from red onion and the creamy avocado, plus a zesty lime dressing that ties everything together. It’s quick to prepare, taking just minutes to assemble, and it’s incredibly refreshing—ideal for summer cookouts or picnics. If you’ve never tried watermelon in a savory dish, this watermelon feta salad is a must-try! It’s a fun twist on traditional salads and can easily be modified based on your preferences.

Kitchen Equipment Needed

  • Small bowl
  • Whisk
  • Large plate or platter
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring cups (for ingredients)
  • Citrus juicer (for lime juice)
  • Serving utensils

Ingredients

  • 5 cups cubed watermelon
  • Heaping 1 cup diced English cucumber
  • ¼ cup thinly sliced red onion
  • ⅓ cup crumbled feta cheese (I love using French feta for its creaminess)
  • 1 avocado, cubed
  • ⅓ cup torn fresh mint or basil leaves
  • ½ jalapeño or serrano pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Sea salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional) Feel free to substitute goat cheese for feta or use cilantro instead of mint or basil if you prefer!

How to Make Watermelon Feta Salad?

  • Step 1: In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of olive oil, the juice of 1 lime, 1 minced garlic clove, and ½ teaspoon of salt to make the dressing. Step 2: On a large plate or platter, arrange 5 cups of cubed watermelon, 1 heaping cup of diced English cucumber, and ¼ cup of thinly sliced red onion. Step 3: Drizzle half of the dressing over the arranged watermelon, cucumber, and onion. Step 4: Top the salad with ⅓ cup of crumbled feta cheese, 1 cubed avocado, ⅓ cup of torn fresh mint or basil leaves, and ½ thinly sliced jalapeño or serrano pepper, if using. Step 5: Drizzle the remaining dressing over the salad. Step 6: Season the salad with sea salt to taste. Step 7: Serve immediately. Step 8: Enjoy your refreshing watermelon feta salad!

Some Tips!

  • For the freshest taste, use ripe, in-season watermelon and cucumbers. They really make a difference! – If you’re prepping ahead of time, keep the dressing separate until you’re ready to serve to prevent the salad from getting soggy. – Feel free to experiment with herbs! Mint and basil are great, but cilantro can add a fun twist too.

How to Store Leftovers?

So you can savor these flavors again, I recommend storing any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. The watermelon feta salad is best enjoyed fresh, but it should stay tasty for a day or two. Just keep in mind that it may get a bit watery, so give it a little stir before serving!

What to Eat with Watermelon Feta Salad?

If you’re planning to whip up my refreshing Watermelon Feta Salad, you’ll want to think about what pairs perfectly with it! This vibrant salad is a fantastic complement to whatever you’re grilling—think portobello mushroom burgers or black bean patties. It also shines alongside picnic favorites like caprese sandwiches or hearty wraps, making your summer meals light and delightful!

Conclusion

Isn’t it wonderful how cooking can bring so much joy? This refreshing Watermelon Feta Salad, with cucumber and mint, is the perfect example of that! Easy to prepare, bursting with flavor, and ideal for those warm summer days, it’s a dish you’ll want to whip up again and again all season long.

Vegan Vegetable Buns https://manthatlooksgood.com/vegan-vegetable-buns/ https://manthatlooksgood.com/vegan-vegetable-buns/#comments Thu, 03 Apr 2025 05:58:08 +0000 https://manthatlooksgood.com/?p=1007 I came up with this Vegan Vegetable Buns recipe for a meatless Monday meal. We were craving Chinese food and I thought it might be fun to concoct something based on these amazing meat buns we’d tasted in Vegas. They were SO good. The kind of good that almost makes you buy a plane ticket out there to taste again.

Of course, I couldn’t do that so my next option was to figure out how to make Vegan Vegetable Buns myself. I used shiitake mushrooms which not only have all that Asian feel to them but they also give it a meaty quality and flavor. Bok choy, onions, garlic, and carrots round out the rest of the filling so you’re getting plenty of crunch, texture, and taste plus a bounty of healthy nutrients.

Vegan Vegetable Buns

The dough is really easy to make too. I mean, this whole recipe takes only 30 minutes to make, including the dough. Most dough recipes require rising and all that jazz. All you’ll need to do here is cut right to the chase with self-rising flour. It’s a little bit of mixing and then you make the filling while it sits for a few minutes.

Yup, it’s ready to go after that, allowing you to fill it up and stuff it. One key factor with the dough though is that you’ll be rolling them into balls and you have to keep them the same size and thickness. If not, you won’t be able to close it around your filling and you’ll have a messy meatless Monday.

These are so fun for an appetizer or snack. You can also double the recipe to make even more of them for a party or just to enjoy as a meal. They’re very filling and satisfying. And the best part is they’re made with wholesome ingredients which makes eating healthier even easier.

I loved these vegan vegetable buns while they’re still hot but they are still just as tasty when they’re cold. These are the perfect little street food treats right in your kitchen!

Ingredients

Bun Dough Ingredients

  • 1½ c self-raising flour more for the working space
  • ¾ hot water
  • 4 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 1 tsp salt

Fillings Ingredients

  • 3 shiitake mushrooms
  • 1 head bok choy chopped the stems
  • 1 small carrot sliced
  • ¼ small onion sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves chopped
  • 2+2 tbsp tablespoons oil
  • ½ black pepper
  • salt to taste
  • soya sauce optional

How to Make Vegan Vegetable Buns

Step 1:

Prepare your dough. In a large mixing bowl, add flour, and salt and create a well in the center of the flour. Pour hot water and oil. Mix with a wooden spoon until the water is a bit cold then with your hands. Knead for about 2 minutes. If sticky add more oil. Cover and leave on the side while preparing the fillings.

Step 2:

Floured your working place. Divide dough into 5 balls. Roll each ball flat in a round shape with a rolling pin. It must be 0.5 inch thick.

Step 3:

Add filling in the center then fold the bun up and around the filling making sure to seal the top by pinching with your fingers. Repeat until all buns are assembled.

Step 4:

Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large nonstick pan over medium heat. Place buns in the pan with the pinched side up. Cook until golden brown and crispy then flip them over and carefully. Cook also until golden brown and crispy. Then do the same with the side. Bring the buns close to each other as support while cooking the sides.

Vegan Vegetable Buns

Some Tips

  • Add a bit more oil if the dough feels sticky while kneading.
  • Pinch the edges firmly to prevent the filling from leaking during cooking.
  • Ensures even cooking and prevents sticking.

Perfect Pairing with these Vegan Vegetable Buns?

For a delicious meal pairing with these Vegan Vegetable Buns, consider serving them with steamed rice and stir-fried vegetables for a complete Asian-inspired feast. Alternatively, you can accompany them with an Asian-inspired slaw tossed in a sesame ginger dressing for a refreshing side dish.

When it comes to drinks, Orange Mango Sparkling Ice is an excellent choice to complement the flavors of the buns with their subtle yet refreshing taste. For those who prefer something a bit more indulgent, a fruity iced tea would be equally delightful.

FAQ

Can I freeze these buns?

Yes, you can freeze these buns for future enjoyment. Simply place them in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Once frozen, transfer them to a freezer bag or container and store them for up to 3 months. To reheat, steam them directly from frozen until warmed through.

Can I make these buns gluten-free?

Absolutely! You can substitute the self-raising flour with a gluten-free flour blend to make these buns gluten-free. Just be sure to adjust the amount of water and oil as needed to achieve the right consistency for the dough.

How do I prevent the filling from leaking out during cooking?

Ensure that you seal the buns tightly by pinching the edges firmly. This will help prevent the filling from leaking out while cooking.

Can I customize the fillings in these buns?

Yes, feel free to get creative with the fillings! You can swap out the vegetables listed in the recipe for your favorites.

How should I store any leftover buns?

If you have any leftover buns, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply microwave them for a few seconds or steam them until warmed through.

The prep time is only 10 minutes for this recipe, and then they’ll need 25 minutes in the oven. Spicy Jalapeno Puff Pastry https://manthatlooksgood.com/spicy-jalapeno-puff-pastry/ https://manthatlooksgood.com/spicy-jalapeno-puff-pastry/#comments Thu, 03 Apr 2025 00:29:21 +0000 https://manthatlooksgood.com/?p=982 This Spicy Jalapeno Puff Pastry is one of my favorite recipes so far, And jalapenos are one of the best ways to kick your food without making it too overbearing or overwhelming.

I’ve always had a fondness for food with a bit of spice to it, as a kid, I distinctly remember an aunt who always had a healthy supply of pickled mild peppers, the kind you find in a jar.

Spicy Jalapeno Puff Pastry

When we would visit long enough to eat lunch, I would put together my deli sandwich and then head to the fridge for the jar of peppers. With my fork, I would scoop out pepper ring after pepper ring, piling them into my sandwich so that my first bite would be spicy, tangy, and just a bit sweet.

One day, she had a new jar of peppers: pickled jalapenos. I’d never tried them before and I didn’t think to ask. When making my sandwich that day, I simply scooped on tons of pickled jalapeno rings and began munching away. The result, as you can imagine, was less than pleasant. Let’s just say an entire quart of milk may have disappeared that afternoon.

But over the years, my love, and thankfully, my tolerance, for spicy food grew. Soon the jalapeno rings were not something that sent me crying and running for the hills, but something I enjoyed eating now and then when I was craving something with a spicy bite to it.

And that is where my recipe for a jalapeno puff pastry falls into place. This delicious recipe combines the spicy bite of a jalapeno with the soothing, delicious, and buttery goodness of a puff pastry.

The pastry will help keep it from being too overwhelming, which is a bonus if you’re hosting a party or having people over who aren’t too wild about super-hot foods.

This particular recipe is perfect for parties and other get-togethers. It makes for an ideal appetizer since it can be picked up with one hand and isn’t messy or otherwise fussy. You can also serve it as a side, but, most people would probably associate a “jalapeno bite” with an appetizer menu.

Thankfully, it is easy to make, looks impressive, and doesn’t cost a lot of money to make at all. In other words, it’s the perfect choice when you’re making something for a family potluck!

If you’re feeling a bit daring, feel free to alter the recipe to make it spicier; for instance, leaving in the jalapeno seeds or not scraping away the entire membrane will make your Jalapeno Puff Pastry Appetizers much spicier.

If you are ready to enjoy a rich puff pastry with a spicy jalapeno kick, read on to discover the recipe that will have people begging you to share after you bring a dish filled with these pastries to your next family gathering, work event, or backyard BBQ.

Raspberry Lemon Loaf Cake https://manthatlooksgood.com/raspberry-lemon-loaf-cake/ https://manthatlooksgood.com/raspberry-lemon-loaf-cake/#comments Wed, 02 Apr 2025 23:00:59 +0000 https://manthatlooksgood.com/?p=971 This Raspberry Lemon Loaf Cake is incredibly rich. Golden brown on the outside with a slightly crunchy outer layer and super moist on the inside, this is the type of pound cake you expect to find at fancy coffee houses.

Raspberry Lemon Loaf Cake

This is also a dense cake with a tight crumb so it’s the perfect sweet treat to serve with a cup of coffee or tea. It also lasts fresh for a couple of days more than a normal cake, meaning you can bake it and then keep it refrigerated for a couple of days to have ready-to-go snacks or desserts (well if you can keep yourself from eating the whole cake).

And then there’s the fact that it looks so good! Just look at those raspberry swirls that dance with the lemon batter. It’s one of those cakes, that when sliced it’s a complete showstopper.

Ingredients

  • 3 Eggs
  • 200 grams sugar
  • 250 grams yogurt
  • 112 grams of vegetable oil
  • 10 ml lemon extract
  • 180 grams flour
  • 15 grams of baking powder
  • 100 grams raspberry jam

How to make the Raspberry Lemon Loaf Cake

The part I love the most about this cake is the raspberry streaks! Making them is super easy. Just mix in some jam with the cake batter and then marble it before baking.

What I love about this step is that you can then play with the flavor combinations. Make this cake again using grape jam, peach jam, or even pineapple jam. Whatever fruity flavor you are craving works great.

Step 1:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9-inch loaf pan with parchment paper and set aside.

Step 2:

In a bowl beat eggs, sugar, and yogurt together for around 3 minutes. Slowly, pour in the oil and beat for 2 minutes.

Step 3:

Incorporate the lemon extract, flour, and baking powder and beat on high speed for 3 minutes.

Step 4:

Divide the batter in two. Add the raspberry jam to one half and incorporate it.

Step 5:

Pour ⅓ of the lemon batter into the prepared cake pan. Top with ½ the raspberry batter and repeat the process alternating between lemon and raspberry and finishing with the lemon.

Step 6:

Take to the oven and bake for 60 minutes or until done.

Step 7:

Let it cool down completely before removing it from the pan.

Raspberry Lemon Loaf Cake

Some Tips

  • Ensure your eggs, yogurt, and oil are at room temperature before starting. This helps achieve a smoother batter
  • hen layering the lemon and raspberry batters in the pan, aim for even distribution.
  • Allow the loaf to cool completely in the pan before removing it.
  • After adding all the ingredients, finish the batter by beating everything on high speed (or with strength) for 3 minutes. This is what adds extra air to the batter which results in a lighter, not heavy, loaf cake.
  • Use room temperature ingredients: They mix in better, and it’s also easier to incorporate them so your cake texture will be more even better, in half the time!

How to Store this Raspberry Lemon Loaf Cake?

Put any extra cake in a sealed container. You can keep it on the counter for up to 3 days. Or, store it in the fridge to keep it fresh longer. Just let it come to room temperature before eating for the best taste and texture.

Perfect pairing with this cake

This is delicious and served as is! Trust me when I say it’s one of the best cakes you’ll ever have.

However, there are a couple of fun ways you can serve it too:

  • Toast a slice until slightly golden brown and serve it with butter and jam. Just like you would do with a piece of bread!
  • Grill it and serve it with fresh fruit and ice cream. It’s a delicious summer dessert and a total crowd favorite.
  • Use it to make some fun dessert shooters. Layer pieces of pound cake with heavy cream and fruits or more jam. They make an impressive dessert perfect for parties or get-togethers.
Raspberry Lemon Loaf Cake

FAQ

Can I use fresh raspberries instead of raspberry jam?

Yes, you can use fresh raspberries, but they may change the texture. Try crushing them slightly before adding them to the batter.

Can I freeze this cake?

Wrap slices tightly in plastic wrap and foil, or store the whole loaf in a freezer-safe bag or container for up to 3 months.

Can I reduce the sugar in this recipe?

You can, but it may affect the texture and sweetness. Consider replacing some of the sugar with a natural sweetener like honey or maple syrup.

Can I make this cake vegan?

Substitute the eggs with a flaxseed or chia seed “egg” alternative, and use plant-based yogurt and oil.

How can I make the lemon flavor stronger?

You can add extra lemon zest to the batter or drizzle a lemon glaze over the cooled cake for a boost of citrusy flavor.

Super Easy DIY Air Fryer Pop Tarts https://manthatlooksgood.com/diy-air-fryer-pop-tarts/ https://manthatlooksgood.com/diy-air-fryer-pop-tarts/#comments Wed, 02 Apr 2025 19:42:10 +0000 https://manthatlooksgood.com/?p=950 DIY Air Fryer Pop Tarts have always been one of Reese’s favorite go-to snacks, but I’m always trying to look for healthier snacks that are not processed and loaded with sugar. With their extensive range of flavors, they are such a tempting and quick breakfast or afternoon snack.

However, as someone who loves to cook, I’m always aware of the ingredients I’m putting into everything I make and therefore what I’m putting into Reese’s body. Sometimes I’m just not happy with what I see on ingredient lists anymore, so I try and find easy alternative ways to make them myself!

DIY Air Fryer Pop Tarts

Pop-Tarts have been around since 1964 and are a kitchen staple in many households. They’re so easy to pop in the toaster or microwave to warm up. I’m always interested to see what new limited-edition flavors come out, and I love some of the seasonal options in the range.

My recipe today takes only 30 minutes to make. With very few ingredients, they are a quick and easy breakfast to make for the whole family. Kids will love them, and they won’t even notice the difference between your creation and the store-bought ones.

DIY Air Fryer Pop Tarts

They are really fun to make with kids, and they’ll love helping out and getting involved before eating their creations. They will particularly enjoy decorating them, and you can switch out the sprinkles for anything you’d like to finish them off with. Let your kids get creative and add their personal touch to their breakfast!

If you’re like me and always in a rush before school or work, you don’t want breakfasts taking too long. So I’ve saved time on this recipe by using a pre-made pie crust. This means less time cooking, and more time eating! I chose to use strawberries in this recipe to get in some fresh fruit but If you aren’t a fan of strawberries, raspberries or blueberries are other good choices.

I made this recipe in my air fryer so I didn’t have to pull out my deep fryer. I love my air fryer, it’s one of my favorite kitchen appliances. I’ve had mine for a couple of years now, and I couldn’t imagine my kitchen without it.

Air Fryer Pop Tarts

I always find the food I make in the air fryer tastes healthier and fresher than deep-fried foods. It means your cooking is lower in fat and calories and you don’t have to use too much oil. Some of my other favorite dishes to make in the air fryer are fries and donuts. I’ve even tried making chocolate chip cookies in it recently, and they were delicious!

I’m planning to make these Super Easy DIY Air Fryer Pop-Tarts as a treat over the holidays. I think they would be a fun addition to your Halloween dessert buffet if you swap the sprinkles for orange and black ones. Your kids will be thrilled to see a familiar snack!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1/8 cup white sugar
  • I package rolled unbaked pie crust 2 in the package
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • Sprinkles

How to Make Super Easy DIY Air Fryer Pop Tarts

Step 1:

In a microwavable bowl, mix the strawberries and sugar and place in the microwave for 5 minutes. Stir. Put back in for another 2 minutes. The filling should now look like a jelly (a runny one). Let it cool for at least 30 minutes.

Step 2:

Roll out dough sheets and cut each one into a large square. From there, create 4 equal squares per sheet.

Step 3:

Add about a tablespoon of filling to the top of 4 of the pastry sheets.

Step 4:

Place the tops on each of the 4 bottoms with filling and take a fork to press in around the edges.

Step 5:

Spray each pop tart front and one back with a nonstick spray and cook in the air fryer for 7-10 minutes. Check them for browning, you do not want to burn them, but you do want them a golden color.

Step 6:

When done, place on a cooling rack for 30-45 minutes. Enjoy.

Some Tips

  • Save time by using store-bought rolled unbaked pie crust.
  • Make sure the strawberry filling is completely cooled before assembling the Pop-Tarts
  • Be careful not to overfill the Pop-Tarts with the strawberry mixture. Too much filling can cause them to burst open during cooking.
  • Press the edges of the Pop-Tarts firmly with a fork to seal them shut.
  • Keep an eye on the Pop-Tarts while they’re in the air fryer to prevent burning.

Perfect pairing with this DIY Air Fryer Pop Tarts

  • When done, place on a cooling rack for 30-45 minutes.
  • Mix lemon juice and powdered sugar to drizzle for icing.
  • Add sprinkles.

Notes

  • Save time by using store-bought rolled unbaked pie crust.
  • Make sure the strawberry filling is completely cooled before assembling the Pop-Tarts
  • Be careful not to overfill the Pop-Tarts with the strawberry mixture. Too much filling can cause them to burst open during cooking.
  • Press the edges of the Pop-Tarts firmly with a fork to seal them shut.
  • Keep an eye on the Pop-Tarts while they're in the air fryer to prevent burning.
